The Events

In May 2024, BSGE’s second annual conference took place as a hybrid event, the live event taking place in Belfast, Northern Ireland at the International Convention Centre (ICC). Following the success of the first ASM delivered by OE in Manchester 2023, we strived to organise and manage a successful event that not only captivated and involved attendees, but also increasing inclusivity by offering more opportunities for members to engage and participate.

As event co-ordinators we organised and managed the scientific and social programmes for the attendees, which consisted of; an opening ceremony, evening welcome reception with entertainment and hosting the finish of an annual Endometriosis UK charity cycle ride, cutting-edge technology and equipment exhibition, training sessions, presentations, interactive discussions and Q&As, live-streamed surgery, four social events and a gala dinner and awards ceremony.

The 2024 event saw significant increases from 2023. There were 159 more attendees taking the total to 816 (up 24%), 8 more speakers, 4 more sponsors and exhibitors, 52 added sessions as well as an extra 3 pre-ASM workshops. Both the welcome reception and gala dinner had an increase of attendees also.

To date 407 delegates have provided feedback, with 95% definitely/most likely recommending the conference to a colleague: “It’s one of the best organised congress I've been to (and I have been at many), everything was smooth and without any problems. Very nice programme and wonderfully arranged industry area where people could network while having lunch but also see the posters."

Outcome

The BSGE ASM24 exceed all expectation with a doubled number of anticipated attendees, increased sponsor and exhibitor participation and a record number of sessions and workshops. 407 delegates submitted feedback showing a 95% recommendation rate which highlighted the events smooth organisation, high quality content as well as excellent networking opportunities.  Our planning and execution surpassed BSGE’s objectives, contributing to improved clinical practices and patient outcomes.

About the Client

The British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy exists to improve standards, promote training and encourage the exchange of information in minimal access surgery techniques for women with gynaecological problems.

Originally founded in 1989 by a small group of consultant gynaecologists, the society has since grown to the dynamic, active society it is today, with a membership of over a thousand consultants, trainees, specialist nurse practitioners, GPs and students.

BSGE exists not only to serve its members, but also to promote knowledge and understanding of the endoscopic approach to diagnosis and treatment to our patients, the public and those that form healthcare policy so that we can make a difference to women’s health and wellbeing
